Ilgar Mamedov is placed to punishment cell
Ilgar Mamedov , the leader of the civil movement “Republican Alternative” (REAL), kept in prison in Kurdakhani was placed to the punishment cell on May 30, according to his lawyer Khalid Bagirov. "A few hours after our meeting a suspicious person was placed to his cell. Mammadov was told that either the person will stay with him, or he will be taken to the punishment cell. Ilgar refused to remain in the cell with that person.
In the end of February a suspicious man was placed to his cell who offered him to leave the country, or to commit a suicide. Then it turned out that it was a former employee of the law enforcement agencies. According to the lawyer, it is unknown how long Mammadov will stay there, and noted that this decision will be appealed.
Ilgar Mamedov was arrested on charges of organizing the riots in Ismailly region on January 23-24. The public considers him a prisoner of conscience.
European Court of Human Rights accepted Mammadov’s complaint to the consideration before time. -16D06-
