Ilgar Mammadov denies freedom in exchange for support Ilham Aliyev
Baku Court of Appeal (UAS) rejected the appeal of Ilgar Mammadov, the leader of REAL in connection with the CEC refusal to register him as a presidential candidate .
Two days ago, a judge Elmira Nagieva appointed re-examination of about 4,500 signatures submitted in favor of Mammadov, who have been declared false. Re-examination was conducted by specialists Examination Center of Ministry of Justice, and they confirmed the "rightness" of the CEC with a difference of only 40 signatures, which , as it turned out , had been incorrectly identified as CEC rigged.
Mammadov did not agree with the court's decision and intends to file a complaint with the Supreme Court.
During the trial, Mammadov made a sensational statement that he in jail he was offered to support Ilham Aliyev, and they promised to release him in exchange.
In particular, the proposal , according to Mammadov , was made by the head of a department of a Prison Service, Imran Tagizadeh. " But I would never make a statement in support of President Ilham Aliyev , even if I die in jail," Mammadov said.
He called on his supporters to give votes to the presidential candidate of the National Council, Jamil Hasanli. The Prison Service denied the Mammadov’s words that their representative had some negotiations with him.
Ilgar Mamedov was arrested on charges of organizing riots in Ismailly region and resisting police.
Amnesty International recognized Mammadov as a “prisoner of conscience.”-06d-
