Ilham Aliyev Meets with First Vice-President of Iran in Istanbul
Baku / 19.10.17 / Turan: The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived in Istanbul on October 19 at the invitation of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to attend the D-8 summit as a special guest.
D-8 was established on June 15, 1997 by Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt and Nigeria.
Within the framework of the visit, Aliyev met with the First Vice-President of Iran, Ishag Jahangiri, AzerTaj reports.
Aliyev noted the successful development of the bilateral relations, the high level of the political ties, and the implementation of important joint infrastructure projects.
Jahangiri noted the dynamic development of the economic ties. The commissioning of the Astara, Iran - Astara, Azerbaijan railway will be important both for the development of the bilateral ties and for the regional cooperation.
The sides also noted the importance of increasing efforts in countering terrorism. In addition, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for development of cooperation in the fields of energy, investment, pharmaceuticals and industry, including joint automotive production. ---03B06-

From 19 to 26 July, 24 automatic rifles, 1 machine gun, 9 rifles, 28 grenades, 441 shells, 3118 cartridges of different calibre and other ammunition were found in Khankendi, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry reported. During the mentioned period, the police found 1 machine gun, 50 grenades, 7 fuses, 3 shells and 320 cartridges of different calibre in Shusha.

President Ilham Aliyev has approved by decree the Azerbaijan-Kazakh intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in military intelligence defense sector. The document was signed in Baku on 7 June 2024.
