Ilham Aliyev Meets with UN Secretary General
Baku / 09/21/17 / Turan: As part of the participation in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, President Ilham Aliyev met in New York with UN Secretary General Antonio Gutierrez the day before.
According to the Azerbaijani President's website, Antonio Gutierrez noted the high level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations. He noted the active participation of Azerbaijan in the UN projects.
The Secretary General expressed his concern about the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He expressed hope that the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group will do everything possible to resolve the conflict.
President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan is doing its best within the UN framework. In particular, Azerbaijan has hosted forums of the Alliance of Civilizations and on intercultural dialogue and events within cooperation with the Council of Europe.
Aliyev reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. He also drew attention to the illegal settlement of Armenians from different countries of the world in the occupied regions of Azerbaijan. -06D--

Afghan Sadygov, the head of the Azerbaijani website Azel.TV, who was arrested in Georgia at the request of Baku, ended his dry hunger strike on February 6, which he had started on February 2.
