Ilham Aliyev receives advisor to the US Deputy Minister of Defense
Baku / 04.12.18 / Turan: On Tuesday, President Ilham Aliyev received the US delegation led by advisor to US Deputy Secretary of Defense, Laura Cooper.
According to the official report, they discussed the development of bilateral relations in the military sphere. In particular, Aliyev noted the positive role of the recent visit to the region by US Assistant to the President for National Security, John Bolton.
Aliyev also expressed satisfaction with the cooperation in the field of energy security and praised the US support in the implementation of the project of the Southern Gas Corridor.
Concerning cooperation within the framework of NATO, Aliyev reaffirmed support for the forces of the international coalition in Afghanistan, as well as to the government of Afghanistan on a bilateral basis.
In response, Laura Cooper said that her visit has the goal of strengthening and deepening US-Azerbaijani relations in the military sphere. According to her, Washington attaches great importance to this, taking into account security cooperation, the fight against terrorism, the provision of transit services for coalition forces in Afghanistan, the fight against the proliferation of mass destruction weapons. -02D-
