Ilham Aliyev receives Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia
Baku/04.10.22/Turan: On October 4, President Ilham Aliyev received Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The meeting focused on current relations and prospects for relations between the two countries.
“During the occupation, Saudi Arabia was one of the few countries that consistently supported our just case. A prime example of this was that Saudi Arabia did not establish diplomatic relations with Armenia during the occupation. Only three countries in the world have taken this step, and we are very grateful for this," Aliyev said. Aliyev said he wanted Saudi Arabian companies to participate in a large-scale reconstruction program in the liberated areas.
"At the beginning of the year, a large power plant project financed by a Saudi company was launched and this project is being successfully implemented," Aliyev said and noted the successful development of cooperation in the field of tourism and culture, joint measures within international organizations, and in particular in the UN and the Organization of Islamic cooperation.
In turn, Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said that over the past few months, the parties "have made progress on a number of economic issues and there is still much to be done." "Our trade turnover is low, and mutual investments do not match the economic potential of the two countries," he said. --03D--
