Ilham Aliyev visited the factory of the Ministry of Defense Industry

On Monday, President Ilham Aliyev visited the pilot plant of the Ministry of Defense Industry after reconstruction.

Defense Industry Minister Yavar Jamalov said that in 2012 the Azerbaijan Technical University established the faculty of specialized equipment and technology. At the faculty there are 74 students studying the production of weapons, fireworks and optical devices, composite materials and products for defense purposes.

While touring with the company it was noted that the plant began operating in 1990 as a design office. After the Soviet collapse the activity of the company was limited.

The main objective of the reconstruction of the plant is to create conditions for the establishment and modernization, as well as the mass production of small arms, submachine and machine guns and sniper rifles.

 Currently, there are tested sniper rifles "Istiqlal-2", "Istiqlal-4", "Istiqlal-1T", "Simsek-9" and other weapons.

The design office of the plant is equipped with modern equipment.

Ilham Aliyev was demonstrated vision devices, armored vehicles and small arms. In particular, this included a special force squad car Gyurza (Viper), created on the base of the model Toyota HILOYX 12.

Jamalov also said that in 2012, contracts for the production of military products of 437 items were signed. At present, the range of products for defense purposes is 700 items.

Judging from the photos, the company also produces multiple rocket launchers, laser-guided bombs
