In Azerbaijan starts the mission of the 11th group of Peace Corps volunteers from the USA. The Mission of the Peace Corps in Baku is held today at the Europe Hotel of the oath ceremony of 27 volunteers of the 11th group.

 
   Peace Corps celebrates 10th anniversary of its activity in Azerbaijan.
 
  The program volunteers from June 21 are to begin operating in 21 regions of Azerbaijan and in two years will share their knowledge and skills in various organizations and schools in Azerbaijan.
 
   Speaking at the event, Ambassador Richard Morningstar noted mutual usefulness of Peace Corps volunteers.
 
"As part of this program, volunteers learn a lot about Azerbaijan. On the other hand, this is a great opportunity for the formation at the Azerbaijanis living in the regions of ideas about America," he said.
 
   In a brief conversation with reporters the ambassador stressed that the Peace Corps does not engage in political activity.
 
   It is noteworthy that the activities of the Peace Corps do not cover the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR). Asked to comment on the matter, the ambassador said that he did not know the reasons for this and promised to ask and find out the reasons.
 
The ambassador called on the volunteers to get acquainted and love Azerbaijani culture.
 
The Peace Corps program was established by the U.S. government in 1961, Since then, more than 210,000 volunteers have participated in the program in 139 countries of the world. -16C06 -
