Iran's involvement in attempted murder of MP Fazil Mustafa has been confirmed
Baku/03.04.23/Turan: The State Security Service has identified a group of persons who carried out a terrorist attack against MP Fazil Mustafa on March 28 in the evening. Azer Sarydzhanov is considered to be the direct organizer of the action. The shooter was Shirinov Sabukhi.
Saryjanov is a religious activist, born in 1976, a native of Salyan. He has visited Iran many times. In 1993-2002, he received religious education in the Iranian city of Qom. During this period, he was involved in cooperation by the Iranian special services. After returning home he went into busness with financial support of the Iranian intelligence .
Note that the terrorist attack against the deputy was carried out by order of the Iranian special services and with their financial and organizational support.
Sabukhi Shirinov, who shot at the deputy, was born in 1986 in the Aghdam region. The religious activist visited Iran 15 times in 2017-2022, where he was involved in cooperation with the Iranian special services and underwent combat training. He shot at the deputy by order of Azer Sarydjanov.
Other members of the group are: Askerov Elshad, b. 1983, a native of Baku. The religious activist visited Iran 9 times in 2013-2018. Another religious activist Aliyarov Emin, b. 1970, a native of Baku. visited Iran three times in 2004-2015.
The latter two helped Sarydjanov in organizing a terrorist attack against MP Fazil Mustafa.
All these persons are held in the State Security Service. No identities of two more detained today have so far been disclosed. -02D-

On November 19, the Sabail District Court of Baku granted the prosecution's request to extend the pretrial detention of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov for another four months, his lawyer, Rovshan Rahimov reported. According to the lawyer, the defense considers Abilov’s detention to be unjustified and disputes the charges brought against him. Abilov himself also rejected the accusations. The defense plans to file an appeal against the court's decision.

On November 19, a debate titled "No Climate Justice Without Space and Meaningful Participation" took place as part of COP29. The event was organized by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and a number of other human rights organizations.
