Hearings in connection with mass repression recently took pace in the Public Chamber. It was noted that over the first three months of 2013, thirty seven members of the democratic camp were arrested, what is regarded as "a kind of preparation" for the elections. Especially were noted the arrests of youth activists who participated in the protests in connection with the soldiers' deaths.
Chairman of the Popular Front Party, Ali Kerimli, believes that the authorities are in conflict not only with the opposition, but with the entire community. All those who require their rights become the enemy of the authorities, said Kerimli.
He reminded the beating of Yasar Cafarli, Ibrahim Ibrahimli, harassment of activists who protest against corruption and arbitrariness. "With the increased arrests and prosecutions, discontent will grow," said Kerimli. A lawyer Vidadi Iskenderli called the authorities "criminal association".
According to the lawyer Gurban Mammadov, the reason that people not raise to fight, is disunity of the "Musavat" and PPFA parties. "If these parties unite, people will rise," he said.
Commenting on this appeal, the leader of the "Musavat" party, Isa Gambar, said that the opposition forces signed documents on functional cooperation in conducting actions of protest and democratic elections.
Gambar believes that "not unite all the forces can unite, but only certain parties can unite," without saying exactly which ones.
He further noted that "Musavat", PPFA, the Forum of Intellectuals, the Movement of "EL" and "REAL", youth organizations and believers, are subjected to pressure.
"By their repression the government themselves define the limits of those who should unite,"- Gambar said. -05C04-
