The Karabakh occupation is a continuation of the international policy of expansionism and ethnic cleansing, planted with the capture of Jerusalem. This opinion was sounded at a round table on the Jerusalem Day of Quds, held at the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan, (IPA), headquarters.
International Quds Day was established by Iran's Islamic revolution leader Khomeini, marked every year on the last Friday of Ramadan in protest against the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem.
The capture of Jerusalem was not only a tragedy for Palestinians, but for all Muslims, exposed to injustice and oppression. "The occupation of Karabakh is the result of this policy," said the deputy chairman of the IPA, Akif Heydarli.
As the religious rights activist Ilgar Ibrahimoglu said, Quds Day has become a symbol of resistance to injustice and oppression, and the struggle for freedom.
According to him, Azerbaijan does not remain aloof from the process that began in North Africa and the Middle East. In 2006-2008 Muslims in Azerbaijan actively marked Quds Day, protesting against the manifestations of Islam phobia and caricatures of the Prophet. Strongly condemning the Israeli invasion in Lebanon and Gaza. For all this, Muslims in Azerbaijan have been subject to brutal repression in recent years, he said.
According to elder, Nardaran Hajiaga Nuriyev of the village, powers of the world policy, in respect to Karabakh, is aimed at the seizure of the region from Azerbaijan. It is in the hands of the people of Azerbaijan to liberate the occupied territories, he said.
The roundtable participants adopted a statement which called on Azerbaijani authorities not to remain indifferent to the Day of Quds. -06D-
