Ivanishvili apologized for remarks from Saakashvili
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili, made a special statement in which he apologized to "friendly countries" due to the recent statements of President Saakashvili.
"The Georgian government continues its efforts to accelerate the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the country, to restore the integrity of the country and bringing peace to the region. Our challenge in achieving this goal is the implementation of our commitments to the EU and NATO, the strengthening of friendly relations with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Ukraine and take steps to normalize relations with Russia.
At the same time, irresponsible actions and statements of the President of Georgia had made in recent years, contrary to the policy of the Government of Georgia in the above direction. This damages the international image and creates additional internal and external challenges of the new government.
Sincerely regret that because of this awkward position were also representatives of the governments of friendly countries and international organizations, for which I apologize on behalf of the Government of Georgia. Since we are in the future are not immune to such incidents, I want to say that the Georgian President before his term in October 2013, is acting on his own personal account, and his visits are not coordinated with the Foreign Ministry. His statements do not reflect the position of the Government of Georgia, and they not supported by the representatives of the new government of the country," said the statement.
The Prime Minister did not specify exactly what he meant by the statement, but it is clear that the question of Saakashvili was made immediately upon return from Azerbaijan. Since then the Georgian leader said Russia, through the tycoons Soyun Sadykov and Vaghit Alekperov (head of Lukoil) wants to destabilize the situation in Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Sadykov himself said in an interview to Rustavi-2 that he rejected Saakashvili's words, calling it "mindless" and alluded to the fact that this information about the Georgian President, was given by Ilham Aliyev.
* Soyun Sadykov was born in 1960 in Georgia. He was a USSR champion in judo in 1978. In 1980-1981 he worked for the KGB.
In 1981-2000 he was engaged in the construction business in Moscow and was the President of Moszhilstroybank. He is an active member of the Azerbaijani Diaspora and, until recently headed the National Cultural Autonomy of Russia (NCFA Azerros).
In December last year, he was a confidant of Vladimir Putin. -02D-
