J. Hasanli: Meeting of November 10 to Be Massive
One of the basic requirements at the opposition rally on November 10 will be the release of political prisoners, the Chairman of the National Council Jamil Hasanli told Turan.
"The issue of political prisoners and human rights situation has reached crisis levels. To date, the number of political prisoners reaches 100 people. This does not happen even in Belarus and Russia. This is a stain on the reputation of Azerbaijan.
The main purpose of the meeting is to attract the attention of local and international community to the grave situation of human rights, to express the will of European integration, which reflects the wishes and aspirations of the majority of the Azerbaijani people," said Hasanli.
According to him, many people want to take part in the rally. "I am convinced that the rally will be attended by many thousands," said Hasanli.
He explained the appointment of the action on Monday, saying that November 10 will be a day-off since November 9 will be the Flag Day celebration.
The rally will be attended by all who are willing to express their solidarity with political prisoners, regardless of their political, ethnic or religious affiliation.
Are the organizers ready for provocations as it was at the meeting on 12 October when the LIH flags were raised? In answering this question, Hasanli said that this provocation was organized by the authorities and NCDF knows the body that was specifically involved in this. Therefore, new provocations are not excluded.
"We hold a peaceful and secular rally and our requirements are related to human rights and release of political prisoners.
Possible appearance of flags or symbols of various states or religious extremist groups will be regarded as a provocation.
Our goal is a free, democratic and independent Azerbaijan and the flag of Azerbaijan should fly over our heads," Hasanli said. -06D-
