Joint operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, up to 70 people detained
Baku / 29.11.19 / Turan: During the joint operation of the law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan and Russia under the name "Border-Shield" on November 18-23, sixty nine people were detained at the border of the two countries.
The operation covered the border regions of Dagestan and the northern regions of Azerbaijan bordering Russia. The detainees were wanted for various crimes, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
During the operation, nine machine guns, two grenade launchers, one machine gun, eight pistols, 98 shotguns, 44 hand grenades, a large number of rounds and shells were seized.
The main objective of the operation was to carry out complex organizational and practical measures to neutralize transnational organized criminal groups, to establish and suppress the channels for the supply of weapons, explosives, and drugs.
Similar joint operations will be carried out in the future, the report says. —06D-
