Karabakh Armenians to live better as part of Azerbaijan - I.Aliyev
Baku/09.03.23/Turan: The life of Armenians residing in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan will be better in the next period than it was before. The statement was made by President Ilham Aliyev, speaking on March 9 at the opening of the X Global Baku Forum "Peace Today: Challenges and Expectations".
Representatives of different peoples and confessions live in Azerbaijan under decent and peaceful conditions. "Therefore, I am confident that the lives of Armenians residing in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan will be better in the subsequent period than during the occupation".
Touching upon the settlement of Azerbaijan's conflict with Armenia, Aliyev expressed hope that Yerevan would seize the chance to sign a peace treaty with Baku.
"Immediately after the end of the war in November 2020, we took the initiative to start peace talks and presented five principles that could form the basis for a peace agreement with Armenia. We hope that international actors who are trying to promote this issue will convince Armenia not to miss this chance," Aliyev said.
He also touched on Azerbaijan's contribution to energy security in Europe. "In 2021 we exported 19 billion cubic meters of gas, this year the volume will be more than 24 billion cubic meters and half of this volume will be delivered to Europe.
"We are increasing our investments into our gas fields. After the start of the Ukraine-Russia war, we received requests from 10 European countries to raise gas supplies, and we are doing so," Aliyev said.
As a reminder, the X Global Baku Forum "Peace Today: Challenges and Hopes" will be held by the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre in Baku on 9-10 March. The forum is attended by over 350 participants from more than 60 countries. -06В-
