Land communication between Armenia and Iran blocked, power cut off in Karabakh
Baku/26.08.21/Turan: On Thursday, hundreds of trucks and passenger buses were stuck in Armenia and Iran due to the fact that the day before, the Azerbaijani military blocked the Goris-Kafan road in several places.
According to the Armenian media, last night the road was blocked near the village of Shurnukh, and on the 26th near the village of Vorotan. It is along this route that the land communication between Armenia and Iran is carried out, and part of this route passes through the territory of Azerbaijan.
After blocking the road, some residents of Shurnukh and Vorotan were evacuated. The alternative road Sisian-Meghri through the village of Aghvani is in a terrible state and ordinary transport will not be able to pass there, Sputnik-Armenia reports.
Armenian sources said that negotiations with the Azerbaijani side on the opening of the road were to begin on Thursday evening, but they fell through.
Karabakh reported an incident on Tuesday on the Lachin road near the village of Turshsu, in the Shusha region. According to Armenian media reports, the Azerbaijani military came to the post of the Armenian police and demanded that the post be removed. This fact gave rise to rumors that the Azerbaijanis are preparing to take control of the Lachin corridor.
At the same time, it is reported that in the second half of Thursday, electricity and the Internet are cut off practically throughout the entire territory of Karabakh. The Armenian side does not explain the reasons for this, but reports on the continuation of the blackouts on Friday as well.
All these facts have created serious tension and anxiety among the Armenians of Karabakh. -02V-
