Lithuania stands up for closer dialogue between Azerbaijan and EU - President Nauseda
Baku/18.05.22/Turan: Issues of further expansion of ties between Azerbaijan and Lithuania were discussed today at a meeting in Baku between the leaders of the two countries - Ilham Aliyev and Gitanas Nausseda.
Welcoming the guest, Aliyev expressed confidence that Nausseda's visit will make an important contribution to the development of bilateral relations. "We are satisfied with the level of our cooperation. During your visit a number of events will take place, including a business forum. There is great mutual interest in practical activities between our business circles," the Azerbaijani President said.
Also, he noted that the development of political relations, political dialogue and the regional situation are on the agenda of the current talks.
For his part, Nausseda pointed out that his visit was a good opportunity to "give an additional impetus to the development of bilateral relations."
"I hope that we will identify and use this potential. Besides business, this includes various spheres of public life. Undoubtedly, regional security and relations with the European Union are among the most important issues.
Lithuania has always advocated a closer dialogue between the countries of the Caucasus and the European Union. We also strongly support the Eastern Partnership project and would like to discuss this issue with you," the Lithuanian President said.
It should be added that the Lithuanian President is accompanied by the rectors of the two universities and representatives of other universities/ It is planned to discuss joint programmes to bring the cooperation in the field of education to a higher level.-06B-
