Ilham Aliyev and Emmanuel Makron
Macron discussed escalation in Karabakh with Aliyev
Baku/05.08.22/Turan: French President Emmanuel Macron called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 4. "During his phone conversation Macron expressed his concern over the tension that has arisen in the region and noted the importance of maintaining dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He said that France is ready to support this," the President's press service said in a statement.
For his part, Aliyev stressed that Armenia committed another military provocation, which resulted in the death of an Azerbaijani serviceman. The Azerbaijani armed forces stopped the provocation, took necessary countermeasures, and all the responsibility for the tension lies with Armenia.
Besides, Aliyev stressed the necessity of withdrawing Armenian armed forces and illegal Armenian military formations from the Azerbaijani territory. However, the Armenian side has not fulfilled that obligation, which is a violation of the statement of November 10, 2020.
According to an agreement with the Russian Defense Ministry, the route of the new road alternative to the Lachin corridor has been determined, and the Azerbaijani side is completing its construction. As soon as these works are completed, Russian peacekeepers will be redeployed to this road. -06В-
