Mamedyarov about people fighting in Syria
"Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry follows the news about the death of Azerbaijanis in Syria. Earlier, the Azerbaijani embassy dealt with this issue very seriously. We have a list of all citizens, students and working in Syria, but they have already been evacuated," said the Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov , responding to a question on the steps of official Baku in connection with the participation of citizens in the fighting in Syria.
At a joint press conference with Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, Frans Timmermans , Mammadyarov said that Baku is concerned about reports on the involvement of its citizens in the war in Syria, and will continue efforts to prevent this .
According to unofficial data, a few tens of Azerbaijanis were killed or wounded in the civil war in Syria. Total number of fighting volunteers is unknown. -02D-
