Mammadyarov Attends GUAM-US Meeting
Baku / 22.09.17 / Turan: The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov participated in the GUAM-US meeting in the framework of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. According to the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, following the results of the meeting, the Joint Declaration of GUAM-US was adopted. It expresses the interest of GUAM and the USA to further develop their fruitful cooperation.
Also, a common opinion is expressed regarding the formation of a common security space for all the states of the region with a view to preserving and developing peace, stability and cooperation.
The declaration stresses the need for progress in achieving a peaceful settlement of conflicts in the GUAM region.
Concern is expressed about the persistence of threats of the use of force against the GUAM countries.
The commitment to respect for the norms and principles of international law, reflected in the UN Charter and the OSCE's fundamental documents, is also reaffirmed.
GUAM as a regional association was established in 1997. It includes Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova. -06D--
