Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Latvia and Azerbaijan
Baku / 12.12.19 / Turan: On December 12, a meeting of the Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, who is in Latvia on an official visit, took place in Riga.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Latvia, during the meeting, topical issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, including within the framework of international organizations, relations between the EU and Azerbaijan, cooperation in the Eastern Partnership format, the situation in the South Caucasus region and in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Ministers expressed interest in continuing an active political dialogue, cooperation in the Eastern Partnership format, as well as economic cooperation and interparliamentary contacts.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan thanked for the support expressed by Latvia for the territorial integrity and unity of Azerbaijan.
Latvian Foreign Minister stressed the need to continue the growth of economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister also met with the President of Latvia, the Speaker of the Parliament and the Minister of Defense.
At a meeting with President Levits, Mammadyarov gave him an invitation from President Ilham Aliyev to visit Azerbaijan. -16D-
