Meeting of Ilham Aliyev with Vladimir Putin in Sochi
Baku / 10.03.19 / Turan: On October 3, the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan met in Sochi. Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev discussed the development of trade and economic relations.
"Despite there was a pause in our personal contacts, relations between our countries continued to develop and are developing successfully. Trade and economic ties are strengthening, trade turnover amounted to $ 2.5 billion last year," RIA-Novosti quoted Putin.
In his opinion, countries have good prospects in this direction. "I mean the plans, authored by the President of Azerbaijan. For our part, we do our best to implement these specific large projects," Putin added.
"We need to exchange information on how relations are developing in other areas, I hope that today we will succeed in this and you will participate in an interesting general discussion," the Russian leader added.
Ilham Aliyev thanked the Russian leader for the meeting.
"As you noted, we did not meet for some time, more precisely four months. This is a rather long period, given the intensity of our contacts last year," he said, recalling that a year earlier, four meetings took place.
Aliyev described the Russian-Azerbaijani relations as a strategic partnership and pointed to the positive dynamics in the economy.
"Trade turnover is growing both last year and this year. According to our data, this year the growth in trade turnover amounted to more than 20%," he said.
"For us, Russia is an important partner, friend, and good neighbor. We value these relations. I am sure that today's discussion will be a good contribution to further strengthening our ties," Aliyev concluded. -02D-
