Monitoring of Ministry of Culture Revealed Destruction of Hundreds of Monuments by Armenians
Baku/19.02.21/Turan: During the monitoring conducted by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, 312 historical and cultural monuments were examined in the liberated territories. In addition, 106 historical, architectural and archaeological objects not being registered with the state were found, according to the message of the Ministry of Culture dated February 18.
Monitoring showed that 286 libraries, 237 houses of culture and clubs, 19 museums, 24 children's music schools, one cinema, two theaters and two art galleries in these territories were completely destroyed.
At the same time, religious monuments - mosques, madrasahs and temples were deliberately used as a stable for keeping livestock.
Four tombs of the 19th century, including the tomb of Ugurlu bey in the Garaagaj cemetery, have been completely destroyed. The tomb of the founders of the Karabakh Khanate, Panahali Khan (XIX century) in Agdam and Mehdigulu Khan, was seriously damaged, and the tomb of Ibrahimkhalil Khan was completely destroyed.
The greatest damage was caused to Islamic religious monuments. At the same time, the Armenian side falsified Albanian Christian monuments in the occupied territories.
These facts are a gross violation of the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property during Military Conflicts of 1954, the European Convention for the Protection of the Archaeological Heritage, and the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan believes that the military-political leadership of Armenia should be held accountable for the destruction and appropriation of historical and cultural monuments of the Azerbaijani people, the message says. -02D-
