Monument to the Victims of the Khojaly Genocide Erected in Mexico
One of the squares of the Mexican capital was named Khojaly yesterday. A memorial to victims of the Khojaly tragedy was installed there. This was at the briefing of the Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev.
The memorial opening ceremony was attended by the Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Embrard, a large group of senators and members of the lower house of the Mexican parliament, and representatives of the Mexican public.
Yesterday a park of Azerbaijani-Mexican friendship was also opened in Mexico, which includes a monument to the former President of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev. Both events were attended by the government delegation of Azerbaijan headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov.
Recall that the Senate and the National Assembly of Mexico recognized the events in Khojaly genocide and called for the liberation of the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
On the night of February 25 to 26 the Armenian armed forces, with the support of the 366th regiment of the former Soviet Army captured the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly in Nagorno-Karabakh, destroying more than 600 civilians there. -06C--
