NATO summit results: Russia must immediately declare ceasefire
Baku/25.03.22/Turan: The NATO issued a statement on the results of an emergency summit held on March 24 due to Russia's attack on Ukraine.
The alliance said that Russia should demonstrate a "serious attitude" toward negotiations with Ukraine by immediately announcing a cease-fire. "The continuation of Russian aggression at the time of negotiations is reprehensible," the statement said.
The NATO pledged to continue helping Ukraine exercise its right to self-defense by bolstering its military power. The alliance will also continue to help Ukraine in cybersecurity and defense against chemical, biological and nuclear threats.
The alliance announced the creation of four international formations in territories of Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, in addition to the relocation of 40,000 troops to the alliance's eastern borders.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke at the NATO summit on March 24. He stated that he had asked the alliance to provide Ukraine with airplanes and tanks, but received no clear answer.-0-
