NCDF: Third presidency term of Ilham is illegitimate
National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) stated that the nomination of Ilham Aliyev for the third term of presidency is illegitimate. The whole world is talking about harmfulness of presidency more than twice, and ways to overcome this tradition. The "illegal" the desire of Ilham Aliyev to become President for the third time is a "challenge to authoritarian democratic order," reads today's appeal of the NCDF session participants to the parliament, the Attorney General and the CEC.
In the course of the "falsified" referendum in 2009, restrictions for the term of presidency of the same person, were removed from the Constitution of Azerbaijan. However, according to the principle of the rule of law, the law is not retroactive, and this norm is not apply to Aliyev, the appeal reads.
If Aliyev still intends to run for presidency, he should disclose details of the companies owned by him and members of his family, and their tax payments in Azerbaijan and abroad, the appeal reads.
If no such information will be disclosed and is the "purity" of Aliyev's family business is not proved, his candidacy could not be registered. The NCDF proposes to create an independent commission to investigate the business of the president. During the discussions, a number of comments and suggestions on the text of the document were made, which will be finalized and sent out to addressee.—06D—
