Negotiations between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Georgia
The prospects for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, cooperation in regional and international structures, were discussed today in Tbilisi at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries – Ceyhun Bayramov and Ilia Darchiashvili. In particular, they noted the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia in the political, defense, security, trade and economic, energy, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian, and other sectors.
The importance of mutual coordination of national efforts in the fight against regional and global security threats, especially cooperation in the field of protection of the most important energy infrastructure projects, was noted, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The need for interaction in various multilateral platforms, the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, OSCE, GUAM, etc. was also noted. Attention was drawn to the importance of continuing efforts for mutual support and solidarity. Touching upon the issue of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Bayramov noted that despite significant progress on the text of the peace agreement, the continuing claims to the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in the Constitution of Armenia and other legislative acts are the main obstacle in the peace process. The parties exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
