Baku / 18.07.20 / Turan: Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Saturday held a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart Zakir Hasanov, a military-diplomatic source told RIA Novosti.
"On Saturday morning, on the initiative of Baku, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov and the head of the Russian department, Sergei Shoigu. During the conversation, various issues related to the relationship and cooperation of the military departments of the two countries were discussed," the source said.
In addition, according to him, Shoigu informed Hasanov about the sudden check of the combat readiness of the troops that began on Friday.
"The Russian Minister of Defense emphasized that this event is planned and has nothing to do with the current situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border," he said.
In Russia, by the decision of President Vladimir Putin on July 17, a surprise inspection of the troops of the Southern and Western military districts, separate formations of central subordination, the Airborne Forces and the marines was announced. —0-
