New members of the Working Group of the U.S. Congress on Azerbaijan
The working group on Azerbaijan of the US Congress has been joined by four other U.S. lawmakers : Pete Gallego, Pete Alsyn and Henry Cuellar (Texas ) and Robert Aderholt (Alabama).
Thus, the number of members of the Working Group on Azerbaijan reached 56, according to the Azerbaijani embassy in the United States .
The Congress Working Group has been promoting the development of US-Azerbaijani relations . -06D -

On Wednesday, the board of the ruling “Yeni Azerbaijan” party announced the list of candidates for deputies from this organization in the early elections to the Milli Majlis on September 1. Most of the 68 deputies of the last convocation from this party are running for parliament again. Among those who dropped out of the previous list: former Speaker of Parliament (2005-2020) Oqtay Asadov; disgraced former head of the Supreme Mejlis of Nakhchivan Vasif Talibov; President of the National Academy of Sciences Isa Habibeyli; Agia Nakhchivanli - heads of the Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs, as well as a relative of former SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev - Sadagat Velieva.

The changes, aimed at streamlining marriage procedures for Azerbaijani citizens abroad, were enacted following recent legislation from March and May 2024.
