New Road Transport Infrastructure in Former Soviet Street Area (updated)
Ilham Aliyev has today laid the foundation of a new road and transport infrastructure, which will be built behind the Drama Theatre in the area of the former Soviet Street.
Information about future communications was reported to the President by the chairman of Azeravtoyol Saleh Mammadov.
According to him, improvement works are carried out on the territory of 26 hectares.
Thus, gardening will be carried out on 23 hectares and new roads will be laid on 3.
3,827 residential and non-residential buildings were demolished in the area.
Two new wide roads (M. Aliyev and Fizuli) will be laid to connect the city center with Avenue Narimanov (former Soviet Street). Several other streets will also be widened and landscaped.
Avenue Narimanov will also be landscaped and expanded from 7 to 17.5 meters on a segment 2 km long. -02D-

On Thursday morning, the head of state visited the territory of the Drama Theatre in the Yasamal district of the capital, where more than a year, work is underway for the demolition of old housing.
Cleaning the territory of 24 hectares is almost completed, and last night the area was placed under police protection.
In the upper part of the territory adjacent to the former Soviet Street (Avenue Narimanov) a special ground and canvases have been installed, where models and photographs are on display, reflecting the future of the territory.
The management of the City Hall and the executive power of the Yasamal district are lined up to report on the work done and listen to valuable advice.
Note that the demolition works in the territory will continue over the next years and the reconstruction is to be completed in 2020.
The Mayoralty of Baku and the country's authorities have not informed the public about what will be created in the area. According to semi-official data, the authorities plan to build parks, recreation areas and luxury housing and pave new roads here. However tens of thousands of people will be evicted from the zone. -02B-
