PACE rapporteur to visit Azerbaijan
Baku/04.09.19/Turan: Sunna Thorhildur Ævarsdóttir (Iceland, SOC), rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on "Reported cases of political prisoners in Azerbaijan", will make a fact-finding visit to Baku from 5 to 7 September 2019, in the context of the preparation of her report.
Meetings are scheduled with members of parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General"s Office and the Presidential Administration, as well as representatives of civil society.
Ms Ævarsdóttir has also requested to visit currently detained persons who are reported to be political prisoners. -06D--
