Pashinyan, Harutyunyan Admit Ceasefire Saved Karabakh from Complete Defeat
Baku / 10.11.20 / Turan: The agreement on Karabakh was signed on the recommendation of the army. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this live on Facebook.
"The army said that it was necessary to stop. Because we have questions, there are no prospects for their solution, or the resource was exhausted," he said.
"The military resource was not effective in everything. Those who fought on the front line had no replacement. Those who fought should have had the opportunity to rest," he said. Therefore, the leadership of Armenia and Karabakh made a decision to end the war as soon as possible, otherwise the consequences would be much worse, the Prime Minister said.
In turn, the leader of the separatists Arayik Harutyunyan admitted there were no modern weapons in Karabakh, and those guilty of this will have to answer for this. In his video message to the people, he noted that over 43 days of hostilities, the Armenian side lost control over Fizuli, Jabrayil, Gubadly, Zangilan, the main part of the Hadrut region, part of the Martuni and Askeran regions, and, most importantly, over the city of Shusha. Harutyunyan stated that control over Shusha was completely lost on November 7.
The fighting took place on the outskirts of Stepanakert, at a distance of 2-3 kilometers from the city, and if the hostilities continued, then in a few days or weeks the whole of Karabakh could be lost, he said.
"I warned that we need you, I spoke about this on October 29 near the Ghazanchetsots temple, I said that Shushi is in danger," Harutyunyan said. Now the leadership of Karabakh has begun consultations with political forces, military leaders, and former leaders of Karabakh. According to Harutyunyan, civil war is not an option, so they need to unite and consider all decisions. -02D-
