PFPA alleges torture of activist Arif Babayev
Baku / 24.04.20 / Turan: Arif Babayev, a member of the Surakhani district branch of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, who was arrested on April 22 under administrative pressure, was subjected to physical pressure.
Babaev was found guilty under the Article 388-1.1 (Placing information forbidden for distribution on the Internet information resource, as well as not stopping the placement of such information) of the Code of Administrative Offenses and was arrested for 30 days.
According to the PNFA, Babayev was beaten in the 30th division of the Surakhani district police department.
In addition, he was forced to say in front of a video camera at the Binagadi detention center that he would repent of his deeds and would not continue to make anti-state calls, the Popular Front Party said.
The head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ehsan Zahidov denied the information to Turan.
“Allegations of torture of detainees at police stations are absurd. If someone on social networks distributes prohibited information, information that can cause panic in people, then measures are taken against him. As for Babaev, why should he be tortured? If Babayev wrote some status, then the fact is there, and if he admits it, then why should he be threatened? ” - declared Zahidov. — 06D-
