Police Exerts Pressure on Opposition Rally Participants
Baku / 03.10.17 / Turan: On October 3, members of the Board of the Democratic Party (DPA) were called to the police in connection with their participation in the rally of the National Council of Democratic Forces on September 23. The DPA leader Sardar Jalaloglu informed Turan about this.
According to him, on Tuesday, a DPA functionary Nuraddin Ismail, the first deputy chairman of DPA Khasrat Rustamov, and a member of the party's Board Zakir Huseynov were summoned to the police.
"The police exceed their authority and violate the rights of citizens protected by the Constitution. The rally on September 23 was sanctioned by the Baku city executive power, therefore it is unacceptable to demand any explanations from the participants of the legal event," Jalaloglu said.
It should be noted that members of the Classic Popular Front Party, who also took part in the action on September 23, were also summoned to the police.
It should be recalled that the opposition rally was held at the Mehsul stadium under the slogan: "No plunder!" It was devoted to the facts of bribery of foreign officials by the Azerbaijani authorities and embezzlement of public funds.
Another action of the National Council is scheduled for October 7. -05B-
