Police tried to prevent opposition from visiting M.E.Rasulzadeh's monument
Baku/31.01.22/Turan: On January 31, leaders of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) organized a mass visit to the monument of Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh, one of the founders of the Azerbaijan National Republic (1918-1920) in Novkhani settlement.
The action was timed to the 138th anniversary of his birth.
However, the police blocked the way of the oppositionists asking them to march in groups of 10 people citing the quarantine regime.
PPFA leader Ali Kerimli said that the NCDF leadership came in groups of 10 anyway.
"On New Year's Eve in Baku, hundreds of thousands of people gathered together, celebrating the New Year; however, the police did not prevent it. Wasn't there a pandemic then?" said Kerimli.
After a 15-20 minute wait, the NCDF leadership was allowed to visit the monument.
The same situation occurred on Monday morning when the leaders and activists of the Musavat Party visited the monument.-21D06-
