Prosecutor General's Office Investigates Fact of Burning Azerbaijani Soldier’s Body by Armenians
Baku/07.01.21/Turan: Video footage depicting burning of an Azerbaijani serviceman’s body by the military officers of the Armenian Armed Forces and by a civilian was disseminated in some media outlets and social networks. The investigation carried by the Prosecutor General's Office and the Military Prosecution Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan established that the video footage reflects reality. A criminal case has been launched under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, necessary investigative measures are underway. All possible measures will be taken to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice within the existing legal mechanism and international law. The public will be thoroughly informed about the outcomes.
At the same time, despite the fact that the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan initiated criminal proceedings in connection with such videos and provided the public with detailed information, the Armenian side, unfortunately does not investigate the facts of crimes against Azerbaijani servicemen and civilians, and does not take any measures to punish the perpetrators.
The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan calls on the Armenian law enforcement authorities to undertake similar steps, to take serious legal response measures in connection with war crimes committed against Azerbaijani citizens in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, to conduct an open and fair investigation and to inform the international community. -02D-
