An action of protest took place on Monday in the center of the village of Nardaran in the Imam Hussein Square; they demanded to release the arrested theologian Taleh Bagirzade and "Prisoners of the hijab."
Hundreds of protesters expressed outrage at the illegal arrest of Bagirzade, describing it as a "kidnapping." They demanded from the authorities to put an end to the repression against religious leaders and the faithful, arrested for participation in protests against the ban on headscarves in schools.
Participants of the action also chanted "Death to America", "Death to Israel", "Down with corrupt officials of Azerbaijan.» Periodically, the protesters chanted slogans "Allahu Akbar."
Several hundred people participated in the action. The police did not intervene the action.
The theologian Bagirzade was arrested on March 31 and he was charged with illegal possession of drugs.–16C06--
