Protest Actions in Karabakh Resumed, Demanding Sahakyans Resignation
Baku / 15.06.18 / Turan: The police in Karabakh tried to disrupt the protest rally held by the opposition National Revival party in the center of Khankend on June 13, the Armenian media reported.
The party"s activist, political scientist Tigran Grigoryan reported on his Facebook page that he and local "MP" Hayk Khanumyan were invited to the "mayor's office" and told that the action is illegal. The police cordoned off the square in the center of the city to prevent people from entering. However, the organizers expressed dissatisfaction.
Bako Sahakyan (the leader of the separatist regime in Karabakh) should resign together with the "speaker of the parliament," Tigran Grigoryan said. Before the rally started, Grigoryan said, many of the like-minded people were intimidated, and during the rally the participants were approached and demanded that they should leave the square.
The police told the rally participants the Azerbaijani troops concentrated on the front line and were ready to attack. Nevertheless, the organizers of the action do not abandon their demands and will continue them, Grigoryan writes.
Recall that two weeks ago protests in Karabakh culminated in the resignations of the heads of police and security services. However, this did not calm the population, which is dissatisfied with socio-economic problems. -02D-
