Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin
Putin told Erdogan about his readiness to negotiate a grain deal
Baku/04.09.23 /Turan: "Moscow is ready to negotiate a grain deal," Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Sochi.
"I know that you want to raise the issue of the grain deal today. We are open to negotiations on this issue," he said.
In response, Erdogan said that the message following the meeting of the two leaders "will be a step towards the whole world, especially developing African countries."
The grain deal was concluded last July by Russia and Ukraine separately with Turkey and the UN. Within its framework, corridors were created in the Black Sea for the export of grain from Ukrainian ports. The second part of the agreements implied the easing of restrictions for Russian agricultural exports.
The deal has been extended more than once, but on July 17, Moscow announced the suspension of its participation in it. The Russian side stated that the second part of the deal was not respected. Russia allows a return to the agreements if its requirements are met. Among them, the reconnection of the "Rosselkhoznadzor" to SWIFT, the resumption of supplies of components for agricultural machinery, the lifting of restrictions on the export of Russian fertilizers. -0-
