Putin urged to resolve disputes in the CIS jointly
Baku/26.12.22/Turan: Challenges, security threats and disagreements in the CIS space are growing, but the main thing is that the Commonwealth countries are ready to cooperate, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday, opening an informal CIS summit. "We have to admit, unfortunately, that disagreements also arise between the member states of the Commonwealth. The main thing, however, is that we are ready and will cooperate," the TASS news agency quoted Putin.
According to him, the leaders of the CIS countries, "even if any problematic issues arise, strive to solve them themselves, together, jointly, providing comradely assistance and mediation assistance to each other." In such a constructive manner, the CIS countries solve the issues of combating terrorism and extremism, cross-border crime, drug trafficking and corruption.
He expressed gratitude to the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan for coming to the summit. This testifies to "our desire to continue jointly building cooperation in the CIS space in the spirit of a true strategic partnership, mutual benefit, and consideration of the interests of all countries," Putin said.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that soon the preparation of documents on the establishment of institutions of observers and partners in the CIS will begin.
"In order to adapt the organization to modern realities, we have to strengthen the position of the CIS in the international arena. Soon, preparation of documents on the establishment of institutions of observers under the CIS and Commonwealth partners will begin," Tokayev said.
