REAL Can Support Jamil Hasanli
The Civil Movement Republican Alternative (REAL) intends to appeal the decision of the Central Election Commission of 13 September to refuse to register the leader of this organization as a presidential candidate.
CEC explained that this decision was that of the 41,247 signatures in favor of Mamedov, 4982 allegedly invalid. As the number of valid signatures was less than 40,000, then under arrest Mamedov was denied registration.
In REAL they consider the CEC decision politically motivated and biased, and the approval of nearly five thousand invalid signatures - a lie.
"This decision was predictable. The authorities did not want to let the election of a new generation of politicians, because they are well aware that Ilgar Mamedov and the movement REAL create a new wave of protest movement," said the executive secretary for REAL Natig Jafarli.
REAL will pursue all legal means restoring the rights of Mammadov and his participation in the elections.
"In any case, we will not stay on the sidelines. If the Azerbaijani courts do not restore the right of Ilgar Mamedov, REAL will support the election of the candidate of the National Council Jamil Hasanli," said Jafarli.
Recall that Mammadov has been detained on charges of organizing riots in the residents of the district in January this year.
The leader of the ACDP, Ali Aliyev, whose candidature was also refused to register by CEC, does not agree with this decision, believing it to be politically motivated.
Ali Aliyev intends to appeal the decision of the CEC.
The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Fuad Aliyev, who on Sept. 11 was also denied registration as a presidential candidate, said that he intends to file an appeal. -06B-
