Ten Candidates in Presidential Race
Today, the CEC registered the leader of the Democratic Party Sardar Mammadov (Jalaloglu ) presidential candidate in the elections on October 9. Thus, the process of consideration of applications completed and the struggle for the presidency will lead the 10 candidates.
It was previously reported the following people became candidates: Ilham Aliyev , the leader of Umid Iqbal Aghazadeh , self-promoted MP Zahid Oruc , chairman of the Social Democratic Party Araz Alizadeh , the head of the party United Azerbaijan Popular Front Gudret Gasanguliev, the head of the party Modern Musavat Hafiz Hajiyev, the leader of the party Movement of National Revival Faraj Guliyev, the representative from the National Council of Democratic Forces ( NCDF ) Jamil Hasanli and Justice party leader Ilyas Ismailov .
4 more candidates were denied registration - leader of REAL Ilgar Mamedov , head of Citizen and Development Party Ali Aliyev , chairman of Liberal Democratic Party, Fuad Aliyev and the head of the party Azadlig Ahmed Oruj.
7 more candidates left the electoral race, taking their candidatures back, or unable to collect 40,000 signatures. -06D-

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals reviewed the appeal of human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who contested the extension of his detention. During the hearing, the investigator requested that the complaint be rejected, while Ibrahimov's lawyer, Aghil Laidj, pointed out the lack of grounds for keeping Ibrahimov in custody.

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
