Aslan Ismailov: I was warned
"The removal of me from the practice of law was due to my social activities because there is no another reason." This was said by the lawyer Aslan Ismailov to Objective TV (www.obyektiv.tv).
He has already been suspended from the Bar in 1999, but after meeting with the president of the country in 2005 he was restored.
"After 2010, I began to sharply criticize government policy and to actively protect the young activists. Several times I was warned not to do so. May 8 this year, the Board of the Bar Association issued a decision to withdraw me from this structure and appealed to the court.
May 16 I was forcibly taken to the police station, where in a cultural form I was warned that I passed all bounds.
May 30 I was taken to the Office for Combating Organized Crime and was hit, insulted and threatened to kill. I was told that this was my last chance. They said: “If you want to live, keep silent,” said Ismailov .
In his view, the legal system of Azerbaijan has long collapsed and talk about an independent judiciary is inappropriate. "The indicator is the lack of faith in the people that their violated rights may be restored by the court. Right can only be bought," said Ismailov.
According to him, the judge can not make independent decisions on cases with political overtones and all other decisions are made through corruption.
Ismailov said that he would file a complaint against the decision of the court of first instance. He is going to go through all the courts and reach the European Court.
"My appeal to the courts of Azerbaijan does not seek to restore justice, because it's impossible. But going to court, I will expose them," said Aslan Ismailov . -03B04-
