Restoration of a war-damaged church in Shusha
Baku/04.05.21/Turan: The Armenian media accused Azerbaijan of another wave of "cultural genocide" against monuments in Karabakh, i.e. the restoration of the Kazanchetsots Church (Gazanchilar - Azerb.) in the city of Shusha.
This church was seriously damaged during the Second Karabakh war because of an artillery shelling.
After the liberation of the city from occupation, the Azerbaijani authorities began to restore the destroyed objects, including this church.
In the mid-90s, the Armenians who occupied the city rebuilt this church, changing its original appearance; a dome that did not exist before was erected.
Currently, work is underway to eliminate the consequences of the destruction from the shelling of the church and return it to its original appearance, an informed source familiar with the situation told Turan.
“All allegations about the destruction of the dome are groundless. At one time, it was the Armenians who demolished the old dome, changing the original appearance of the church,” the source said. -02B-
