Russia Raises Gas Price for Armenia
Baku / 20.12.18 / Turan: Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak sent a letter to the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia, in which he said that Russian gas would be supplied to Armenia at a price of $ 215 per 1,000 cubic meters, rather than $ 150, as it is now. This was reported by the Armenian newspaper 168 Zham, citing its own sources.
Deputy Prime Minister Avinyan, responsible for the energy sector, declined to comment the matter.
If the information of the newspaper is confirmed, it will mean an increase in prices by 43%, which is a huge burden on the economy and consumers of Armenia. In fact, this can be regarded as the beginning of pressure on the Pashinyan government from Moscow.
Apparently, it is not by chance that on the eve of this, the Armenian Ambassador to Iran raised in Tehran the issue of Yerevan"s desire to buy gas in Iran.
At the same time, the leadership of the Foreign Ministry of Russia made tough statements, urging Yerevan not to let the United States into its territory. -02D-
