Sahakyan's statement - recognition of the violation by Armenia of the tripartite statement
Baku/29.06.22/Turan: The statement of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Sahak Sahakyan that Armenian conscripts in Karabakh will be replaced by contract soldiers is another recognition of official Yerevan in the illegal transfer of armed formations to Azerbaijan, stated the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva, commenting on the statements of Sahakyan. “This is a gross violation by Armenia of the tripartite statement of November 9-10, 2020,” Abdullayeva stressed.
According to Article 4 of this document, the withdrawal of the Armenian Armed Forces from the territories of Azerbaijan was envisaged, and in parallel with this, the deployment of a Russian peacekeeping contingent there.
Official Baku has repeatedly pointed to the violation by the Armenian side of the provisions of the tripartite statement, including the complete withdrawal of illegal armed groups from the territory of Azerbaijan.
While Azerbaijan is taking steps to normalize relations and build peace in the post-conflict period, such an approach by the Armenian side clearly demonstrates Yerevan's interest in creating tension in the region.
“This statement of the official representative of Armenia shows that the talks of the Armenian side about peace are nothing but hypocrisy. This is also a clear manifestation of the aggressive policy of the Armenian side,” summed up the representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The day before, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Sahak Sahakyan, at a meeting with the parents of conscripts, said that conscript soldiers in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan would be replaced by long-term servicemen. --06B--
