Serjik denies accusations from Ilham Aliyev
The President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, speaking on nuclear safety summit in The Hague, commented the statement by President Ilham Aliyev on the environmental threat from Metsamor.
"I note that we are working closely with the International Atomic Energy Agency in ensuring the safety of the Armenian nuclear power plant, consistently fulfilling the requirements of the Agency's technical document number 640. This is evidenced by the results of the part of the IAEA OSART," he said.
"As for the rumors sounded that supposedly we had problems related to radioactive waste, such a lie in the first place is a manifestation of distrust of international structures, because we coordinate all our programs with the International Atomic Energy Agency," said Sargsyan.
Recall that at the summit, Ilham Aliyev said that the Armenian NPP is a threat to the region as well as its equipment and technology is outdated and radioactive waste from the nuclear power plant infects the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. -02B-
