Speaking about the results of the first half of the year, Ilham Aliyev focused on the priority foreign policy
Baku/15.07.22/Turan: Relations with neighboring countries have always been one of the main priorities for Azerbaijan, and steps have been taken in this direction this year, stated on July 15 the President Ilham Aliyev, at a meeting dedicated to the results of six months of this year. The President noted that his meetings with the Presidents of Russia, Iran, Georgia once again confirm this.
According to the head of state, important steps were taken towards the development of US-Azerbaijani relations, mutual visits of high-ranking officials were organized.
"The President of the United States of America sent me letters twice - both in connection with Independence Day and in connection with the opening of the Baku Energy Week. Both in my response letters and in the letters sent to me, the importance of our ties was emphasized. These relations have both a long history, and a great future, that is, in a word, with the main centers of power, as well as with the main international organizations, look what a lot of work has been done in just these six months.”
The President of Azerbaijan noted that Azerbaijan is developing in all directions. “Our position has always been an independent position, we have always openly demonstrated our position, also because we have earned great respect in the world. We always stand by our word, we are always true to our word.”
Aliyev noted that this year the country's foreign policy was very active. "In the field of foreign policy, I believe that new important steps have been taken, and the international prestige of our country has grown even more."
Among the results, he emphasized the successful chairmanship of Azerbaijan in the Non-Aligned Movement. "Our chairmanship, as you know, has been extended for a year with a unanimous opinion until 2023. This indicates that our country has gained a very high prestige among 120 countries, and trust in us has grown even more over the years. We, as a responsible country and the active chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, also made a great contribution to the development of this institution. One of the important steps was the meeting of the parliamentary network of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku this year and the creation of a parliamentary network. This important event held in Baku once again showed that this Movement has a very great potential, it is a very important platform for deepening solidarity, expanding cooperation and mutual international support. This was our initiative, and it is already manifesting itself in real life.”—0—
