State Security Service about arrests in Customs
Baku/15.07.22/Turan: On July 15, the State Security Service (SSS) announced about a special operation and arrests of high-ranking officials of the State Customs Committee. On June 10, the SSS launched a complex criminal case on the fact of illegal actions of officials of the State Customs Committee.
It was established that Etiram Khalilov, the director of the "Azerterminalcomplex" Association under the State Customs Committee, using his powers, underestimated the cost of goods and vehicles passing through customs control for bribes.
In addition, Rashad Babayev, deputy head of the Main Customs Department for Energy Resources and Maritime Transport, and Shukur Safarov, deputy head of the road tax department, were brought to criminal responsibility.
For bribes, they exempted large-sized foreign trucks from paying customs duties. Both were arrested by court order.
Masum Rasulov, the head of the Operations and Investigation Department of the State Customs Committee Masum Rasulov was arrested on suspicion of embezzlement of budgetary funds. He is accused under the Articles: 179.4 (misappropriation of large state funds) and 308.1 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
