State Security Service (SSS) arrested spouses Abbasguliyevs engaged in espionage
Baku/30.07.20/Turan: The State Security Service of Azerbaijan (SSS) announced the arrest of the Abbasguliyevs, who were accused of treason in the form of espionage.
"As a result of the measures carried out by the State Security Service, it was established that the Azerbaijanis - a married couple Khabib Abbasguliyev and Lamia Abbasguliyeva, were engaged in espionage in favor of a foreign state," the State Security Service said in a press release.
According to the investigation, the married couple had secret meetings with representatives of the special services of a foreign state on the territory of various countries, collected and passed on to them information related to state secrets.
Khabib Abbasguliyev and Lamia Abbasguliyeva were arrested and charged under the Article 274 (treason to the state) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. At present, operational and investigative measures are underway, the State Security Service said.
However, the press release does not specify in favor of which state the arrested were spying. –06D-
